Michael Pratt posted a new activity comment: %s until he shows otherwise, it’s link bait. We’re supposed to sign up because of some snazzy graphics and a promise of greatness? Pass
Del posted a new activity comment: %s Gotta love the cynicism here, Pratt (and the irony). I take it you haven’t actually asked Mike what BuddyPack is all about? I’m wondering if you’ve even followed the link and browsed his site; if you had, you’d see that he’s not entirely short of skill and anything he puts out will probably be worth signing up for.
Michael Pratt posted a new activity comment: %s Enjoy the product. I didn’t realize I had to ask again after Brent did before me. It is spam and link bait. Yes I was suckered in by the nice graphics only to find this ”skilled” dude you speak of is full of it. Have you noticed he has not breathed a word of his creation anywhere…..I smell the vapors….but you go ahead and enjoy.
Del posted a new activity comment: %s Well, you were eager enough to start having a go at Mike without even waiting for him to answer Brent. If you’d shown an iota more patience you’d have had your answer when Mike logged on and saw the question – but I guess since manners aren’t your thing, it’s a bit too much to ask for patience too. Talking of someone being ’full of it’ – they say the qualities we hate most in others are those that remind us of ourselves.
Michael Pratt posted a new activity comment: %s I have not called anyone names nor spun any vitriol. Countless folks had to wade through all the banter to figure it out like it was a puzzle. Plenty simply asked ”what is Buddypack ” and he responded to each of them with vagueness. (excepting the few you pointed out which presumed we knew.
Del posted a new activity comment: %s Oh, I don’t think it’s a huge leap to get from ’he’s full of it’ and hinting at the possibility of him being a hacker to full-blown name-calling. His choice of marketing was to pique interest and get people intrigued. Looks like he’s done fine with that. Don’t like it? Ignore it, move along. As for checking whether he’s a spammer or not – if you’ve visited his website and poked around on his profile then you’ll have seen his portfolio and AvenueK9; blatantly not spam sites. He’s just a guy with some skill at marketing and coding, trying to do something helpful. I can’t imagine it’s doing much to his motivation when he sees someone, instead of outright coming to the point with ’Look, I’m checking up on Andy’s behalf that you’re not actually a spammer – can you fill me in with what this is all about?’, decides to broach the subject with ”it’s link bait. We’re supposed to sign up because of some snazzy graphics and a promise of greatness? Pass”. A bit more harsh than was really necessary.
rustybroomhandle posted a new activity comment: %s@mikepratt – are you a troll or just stupid? I have used this guy’s work on one of my sites before, and have no reason to believe he’s spending all this effort marketing vapour. Why would you be thinking that?? It takes a special kind of asshole to be as obsessed as you are about it.
Michael Pratt posted a new activity comment: %s relax. I am merely looking out for the community. You may recall, I asked simple questions of Mike as well only to be told to stick around ’cause ”I’ll see soon enough” If your Mike was so awesome, perhaps he’d notice all the folks wondering if this is real or some prank
Andy doesn’t have time to do this, so we do (see Windamdavid and Erich)
rustybroomhandle posted a new activity comment: %s Just colour me dumbfounded though. I can’t see for the life of me what the point of a ”prank” on his part would be. You are not helping anyone, and the presence of those teasers is in no way harming anyone.
Mike posted a new activity comment: %s Wow, loads of replies here! Sorry bout the lag on here, but I was out for the last two hours. Well, I promise all of you who sign up on my nifty landing page that I’ll never give out your email addresses or spam you with any crapware or anything you *have* to use because, frankly, I hate that stuff, too. I have the guinnea pig question on there, because I’d really like to produce themes that speak to the vast majority. The only way I can do that is by getting a focus group together, or ”guinnea pigs,” who’ll suggest improvements to whatever I come up with. That said, for those of you who’ve downloaded my stuff in the past — and for those of you who have signed up — you’ll get a message tonight (PST) about the Avenue K9 theme; it’ll come from my @epictum addy, so heads up on those spam holders.
Mike posted a new activity comment: %s yeah, you know what i would’ve never really anticipated being a problem? it’s despite all the positive feedback you receive, the ones that aren’t particularly welcoming stick out like a sore thumb. i love gamerz plugins… and i’m sure they own him now, so i’ve actually been thinking lately as to how i’ll roll out B2, since i don’t want this theme pack to own me, ha!

So BuddyPack is a theme? A pack of themes? Icons? Whatever it is, I’ll sign up b/c I know you’re not a spammer!
