If you’re logged in as a super admin, you can see everything regardless. Other users can not.

@willlurie – Probably needs some tweaking. Right now it’s left pretty much untouched compared to when it’s loaded up in wp-admin’s new post screen.

Unsure if there’s a plugin to allow searching the activity streams.

I’ve never used the plugin you linked above, so I can’t vouch for it.

Searching the activity streams is not enabled by default here. A plugin and a neat UI could bring it out, though.

Group creation is turned off here because of issues with spam. On a normal installation where you can lock some things down, you can safely have Group Creation turned on.

There is no sharing of media directly. The BP-Album/BP-Media project does the best job at that, currently. Also, BP-Links does something similar in terms of sharing links and media.
