I installed it this morning and it looked great till the end when I forgot to select my Weaver theme and I let it go with the bbpress theme. I have a suspicion that the hooks it’s using are not good ones and they corrupted the lines to the database.
I went and downloaded the last nights back up and proceeded to overwrite the admin sections and contents etc…
I was at least able to see the home page but it was still the BBPress theme and not my weaver theme. I got on the line with my host who has some pretty bright people working there. (short version) I got back in and got my theme back to weaver and uninstalled the buddy press plugin.
Now I have in my menu line the activate, members, groups left over from the install of BP. I reinstalled and then uninstalled and deleted the files but the menu items are still there. If you click on them the are empty pages so maybe I can just delete the pages and they will go away… Now that I think about it, I think that is what happened, All my tearing away at the fabric of Bpress has left them orphaned… Back in a sec…
Yup that was all it was and now I trashed all the orphaned pages.
Is there a group for teaching newbies like me how to safely install Buddypress with out trashing my whole site?
