Thanks for all the good work.

So, I am setting up a site with wp for the first time. yeah, a wp virgin, but not my first site.

Anyway, I like the functionality of BP groups and extra related plugins (using docs and projects). That said, I really love the actual BBPress forums. Way cleaner, more functional—full forums. I’m doing my best to integrate the two, so as not to confuse new users.

I’ve set up my site similarly to yours, in that forums for (some) groups are on, and also their is a section for site-wide forums. With that, I have a couple questions:

Can these forums be integrated without blowing up? If I set BBP forums to the same slug (forums) it simply won’t load them because of BP forums. Can I simply turn BP forums off entirely (not just in each group setting), so that /forums can be used for BBPress? Or is it possible to link the BP Group’s Forum to a proper BBPress Forum (perhaps only seen by them?)

Basically, BBPress has a real Forum, and BP use of BBPress adds functionality, but ideally would integrate right into BBPress /forums, as it looks a hell of a lot nicer.

Lastly, I noticed (here on your site as well) a big problem that when a user searches forums in the top search bar (part of the BP install), it does not have the ability to search real BBPress forums as well. This will definitely confuse my users.

Any suggestions on any of this would be helpful.
